Original Founder

Founded in 1931, we are a third-generation estate planning firm that has been providing objective advice, creative life insurance solutions, and exemplary service for families and businesses. We have worked with affluent families, entrepreneurs, and executives throughout the U.S. to implement more than $2 billion in trust-owned life insurance arrangements since 2000.

We have learned over the last 90+ years that successful relationships result when partners master and perform their designated roles. Our role is to collaborate with mutual partners and guide you in your endeavor to preserve, create, and enhance/transfer your hard-earned assets to those you designate.

A Proud History

The McNair family has a rich history of competitive excellence.

A four-time NCAA All-American and NCAA doubles finalist in 1973, Fred IV was co-captain of the University of North Carolina men’s varsity tennis team. In 1976, he and Sherwood Stewart were ranked the No.1 doubles team in the world after winning the French Open and the Grand Prix Masters titles. In 1977 at the 100th Anniversary of the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Championships, Fred IV advanced to the third round and played the longest match of the tournament winning 15-13 in the fifth set. Fred IV was also a member of the team that won the 1978 U.S. Davis Cup.

A Legacy of Tennis

The McNairs are the only family to have competed in the U.S. Men’s Singles Tennis Championship for three consecutive generations. Fred IV competed at both Forest Hills and Flushing Meadows in the “Open Era” from 1969-1982. In 2001, Fred IV was formally inducted into the NCAA Intercollegiate Tennis Hall of Fame.

Fred IV served as President of the Mid-Atlantic Tennis Education Foundation (MATEF) and as Chairman of the U.S. Olympic Tennis Committee in 2004-2006.

Today, Fred IV remains actively engaged in tennis and enjoys playing golf with friends and family at Congressional Country Club. McNair envisions his clients as doubles partners, collaborating with them and ultimately implementing a legacy of love that will impact their families for generations.
